Corporate Governance Board
Dr. Marilyn Wells
(Interim Chair)
I worked at CQUniversity from February 2006 until May 2025 and was located on Rockhampton campus. When the University restructured in 2020 due to the impact of the pandemic, I was appointed to the role of Head of College – ICT. As Head of College, of ICT at CQUniversity I led 167 staff: 53 full time staff and 114 casual staff across six campuses located in Cairns, Rockhampton, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Online.
I have been a member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) since 2000 and was a member of the QLD Branch Executive Committee 2015 – 2025 as an ordinary committee member with my role changing to Co-Vice Chair in 2018-2019 and returning as ordinary member in 2020 – 2025. I play an active role with promoting ACS in the Rockhampton region community, CQUni staff and student and had a key role in the ACS changing perspective on enabling free student membership and the reestablishment of the ACS Student Medal at CQUni. My roles at CQUniversity since 2006 and participation in other areas of university life show that I am also committed to ensuring students and staff have the best opportunities to enhance their careers.
Prior to joining CQUniversity, I was with University of Western Sydney (WSU) until early 2006. At WSU, I taught in the areas of information systems, and knowledge management. Prior to joining UWS, I held various senior management positions in insurance and environmental industry, and I worked in the information systems, finance, and administration areas. From early 1990s until 1996 I was a consultant implementing ERP systems in small to medium size organisations.
I have recently taken up roles as an education consultant and as an ACS Accreditation Case Manager, so while retired and loving it, I do get to “keep my hand in.”
